What is Breakfast in the Classroom?
Breakfast in the Classroom is an innovative program in which EVERY student has the opportunity to eat a healthy breakfast in their classroom FREE of charge at the start of each school day. Breakfast is prepared by Hesperia Unified Food Service staff and delivered to each classroom. Breakfast is served, eaten, and cleared during the first 10-15 minutes of class while teachers conduct administrative activities or begin the day's lessons.
Why serve Breakfast in the Classroom?
Studies clearly show that eating a nutritious breakfast is an important component in student learning and overall health. Offering a healthy breakfast free of charge makes this important meal accessible to all students. Breakfast in the Classroom eliminates many of the barriers, such as an early start time that frequently prevent students from eating a healthy breakfast at home or from participation in our previous breakfast program. Breakfast in the Classroom helps ensure that all students start the school day well nourished and READY TO LEARN!
How does my student get breakfast?
Your student must arrive at their classroom by our regular 8:20 a.m. (8:10 a.m. Morning K) start time. It is as easy as that! Students can still come as early as 7:50 a.m. and play on our playground before school begins.
