State Testing Is Over!Joshua Circle Students have been testing for the last two weeks. Thank you to our families who had their kids at school every day, on time! Every child makes a difference for our school on this test. All students who try their best on the test and are here every day of testing will be invited to the SLIME PARTY where they can slime Principal Sheffield and Assistant Principal Elgan! We want to see them get slimed. Thank you for your continued support. Kindergarten Registration dates as outlined by state law (SB 1381) have been changed so children this year must be five prior to November 1, 2012. As the years progress, so will the date students will need to be five by. Those dates are listed below.
Library Remodel is CompleteOur library remodel is now complete. Please feel free to drop by and check out our newly renovated library. All of our district's maintenance staff did a truly amazing job. When the students have arrived to check it out, many of the words heard were; wow, pretty, amazing, cool, and sweet. We are very proud to be able to offer this facility to our students. We have purchased new books and computers for students as well as filling in our new shelves with books donated from Target. Remember to stop by and check it out. JC Night at Carl's JuniorWe had a great turn out at Carl's Junior on Main St in Hesperia for JC Night two weeks ago and had another successful day last week. Watch our website for our next Carl's Night. Thanks for all of your support! Bulldog Pride #5, May 22ndBulldog Pride #5 will be held on May 22nd. We had over 340 students earn their Bulldog Pride tag which they got at the event and we hope to see even more at this upcoming event. In February we had Anthony the Magic come and perform for our students and it was a BIG HIT! In March we had a luau BBQ. Keep up the good work! Below are the requirements to earn a trip to Bulldog Pride. (The events are held the Friday after every benchmark assessment.) -Good Behavior Students are expected to be safe, respectful and responsible and to follow the 6th Pillars of Character. --Good Attendance No more than two absences or tardies. Illness and health issues that extend past the two days will be looked at on a case by case basis. ---Good Effort All classwork completed, good participation, and following JC's Six pillars of Character. ----Organized Binder/Work Folder Binder in upper grades completed and organized. In the primary grades, organized work folder. JC Recieves Library Donation from TargetWe here at Joshua Circle would like to thank the great folks at Target by purchasing a large amount of books for our library. This means a great deal to our staff and students. Our Bulldog Students will enjoy reading every book that comes in! JC Receives $1750 Donation!On October 4th, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Association and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools presented Joshua Circle teachers with $1750. This money can be used for classroom supplies and books as each grade level sees fit. We are tremendously thankful for this opportunity provided by James and Rowena Ramos and the San Manuel Indian Tribe. Thank you! Our students will certainly benefit from this. Mrs. Goodrich, a first grade teacher, has been part of our dedicated Joshua Circle team for two years. Our Classified Employee of the Year is Mr. Herb Dennis, our crossing proctor. Mr. Dennis works rain or shine to ensure our students cross 8th Ave. and Willow Street safely. In the event of a school closure due to inclement weather or bus delays because of adverse weather or road conditions local radio stations KATJ (100.7 FM), KIX 106 (106.5 FM), KZWY Y102 (102.3 FM), KWRN (Radio Mexico-1550 AM), or AM TALK 960 (960 AM) will announce any school closures beginning at 6:00AM.
If your child rides a bicycle to school, we have provided a bicycle safety booklet brought to you by the California Highway Patrol that you can read with your child. This is not required, but offered as a tool to help you and your child know about bike rules, safety practices and dangers. Click here to download the bicycle safety booklet. |
